Hana Okra – Japanese sake and small plates

Let me introduce you to my favorite small Sake-restaurant.
The name of the small restaurant is “Hanaokura”. This is an okra flower.
Today was an auspicious day for one of our employees to have a baby, so I went there to toast.

Today’s menu

I ordered Hakkaisan, a famous brand of sake.

This is called “otoshi” and is a small plate that is served first by the restaurant. Today’s dish is “mizuna ohitashi with vinegary miso”.

“Freshly boiled snap peas” The sweet aroma of beans fills your mouth.

Seasonal item: firefly squid. Served with yuzu miso.

Fried shiso leaves and cheese. Shiso and cheese go well together.

Cod milt tempura. This was so creamy that it seemed to melt in your mouth.

Assorted sashimi.

The master of this restaurant has a great cooking sense. I’ve been drinking sake for about 40 years now, and this Hanaokura is the best for me.
